ARTIST SALON: 2009

The Artist Salon is a gathering of artists and art supporters, providing opportunities to learn about different aspects of the art world and marketplace in a friendly, informal setting. Current DIVA members are encouraged to bring two or three examples of their artwork for the Members' Gallery selection. Members are able to propose exhibits as individuals, pairs, or groups, as long as everyone is a current member.

Sunday, January 18 - Artist Salon: The Fine Art of Giclee Printing with Jim Heric . Are you interested in expanding the market for your art? Giclee printing and fine art reproduction may be the answer. Come to this informative and informal round table discussion on giclee printing and fine art reproduction with Master Journeyman Lithographer, Jim Heric. Jim is the owner of Fine Artisan Giclee, a fine art reproduction studio in Veneta, OR. He has 30 years of experience in color correction and scanning and has operated his own studio for 15 years. This is a unique opportunity to learn everything you have wanted to know about giclee printing and fine art reproduction. Come with all your questions.

Sunday, February 15 - Selling On E-Bay with Carlos Paris guest speaker. DIVA's Artist Services Committee is pleased to present "Selling Your Art on Ebay" with Lane Community College instructor Carlos Paris. Mr. Paris will address the fundamentals of selling on Ebay and related online venues. Join us in discovering the nuances of selling at online auctions and marketplaces.

Sunday, March 15 - Artist Salon: The Ins and Outs of Artist Residencies. Jalene Case, Program Manager from The Sitka Center For Art and Ecology, current artist residents, Kathleen Crabill and Rich Bergeman, as well as previous resident Dawn Stetzel will present on the “Ins and Outs of Artist Residencies” followed by a panel discussion and open forum from. Topics addressed may include: what is the purpose of a residency; why do artists go into a residency program; what are the benefits for the organization and the artist; what do artists have to consider when applying to a residency (food, lodging, travel expenses etc)?

Sunday, April 19th - Artists Salon: "Art Fairs and Festivals: An Insider's View". The Salon will focus on Fairs and Festivals as a revenue stream for artists. It will feature three art festival coordinators from Corvallis Arts Festival, Salem Art Fair and Eugene's Art and the Vineyard, along with invited artists experienced with participating in Art Fairs and Festivals.

Sunday, May 17 - Artist Salon: National Juried Art Shows. Gladys Bacon-Rust, administrator for the Emerald Art Centers' National Juried Show and Eugene artist Gabriella Soraci, who has a long track record of applying to National Juried Shows will discuss the pros and cons of participating in this genre of art exhibit.  Terry Way will host the discussion.

Sunday, June 21- Artist Salon:  Art Critique with Terry Way. Do you remember the art critiques that you had in college.  The ones that went on and on and the biggest challenge was to stay awake?  This review style is nothing like that.  Each artist should bring one or two pieces that the entire group will respond to.  No technical advice or design critique.  A low key, non-threatening opportunity to find out how your fellow artists see your work.  Terry Way moderates.
