Sunday, August 17- Artist Salon: Capturing, Preparing and Presenting Your Art In A Digital World wtih Anna Hults
Time: 4 pm
Cost: $5 public/Free for DIVA members
~~~ Long time DIVA Member and Photographer, Anna Hults will present information pertinent to digitizing your artwork for online presentation. Topics will include: Getting work photographed and doing it yourself; Digitizing slides, transparencies and prints; image preparation including understanding image size, resolution differences for print & web, and cropping; and website options such as social networking sites, photosharing sites, and sales sites.
Sunday, July 20 - Artist's Materials: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly... and how to know the difference

~~~ A light hearted but serious presentation and discussion about how an artist can make their life easier! The materials and craftsmanship an artist uses has a huge influence on longevity and presentation. There really are no "bad" materials, just inappropriate use. Terry will discuss these issues, tell stories about framing art for 20 years, and answer questions. Terry is the president of Fine Art Care & Treatment Standards (FACTS), owns Raven Frame Works, Inc., and is co-host of VizCity, which airs on KLCC.

~~~ Blogs, once the exclusive domain of the tech-savvy, have now become popular tools for the masses. How are artists using blogs to promote their work and build community among their peers? We'll explore examples of art blogs, and discuss how a blog is different from other kinds of websites. What are the pros and cons of blogs? Participants will learn a variety of ways that they can start a blog of their own, as well as exploring whether they have what it takes to be a successful blogger.

~~~ Come join fellow artists at DIVA for an inspiring opportunity to collaborate on one of the most difficult topics every artist faces, "How should I price my work?" This workshop will use a group critique format and will focus specifically on pricing. Participants should bring up to 3 pieces of artwork and be prepared to discuss their strategies and questions regarding pricing these artworks. Participants may also bring price sheets and sales policies for critique. Bring something tasty to share. Current DIVA members may bring one or two examples of their artwork for the Members' Gallery selection. ~~~ The Application Workshop will give interested artists more insight into DIVA's Open Studios Art Tour. Artists will learn about the benefits of participating in the Tour, have their questions and concerns addressed regarding the application process, and receive information about submitting and resizing digital images.
The Salon is an informal potluck style gathering of artists and art supporters meeting for the purpose of community building, education and professional development. We provide opportunities to learn about different aspects of the art world and marketplace in a friendly, informal setting. Sunday, January 20 - "dos and do NOTs" of approaching galleries with Dena Brown

January is a great time for assessing your goals for the year and making fresh starts. I am sure that working with galleries is high on the list for many of you, so why not join us for our January Salon. Dena Brown (Director for the Airport Gallery and Maude Kerns) will be with us sharing on the "dos and do NOTs" of approaching galleries. She is equipped with a slide show and years of experience.
Dena will talk about the initial introduction to a gallery, proper submissions, how and when to follow up, some insider info on what galleries DO NOT want to deal with, and more. This salon is an excellent opportunity for new and veteran artists to hone their skills and gain new ones.
Bring something tasty to share and remember we will select the Members' Gallery exhibit for July. Current DIVA members may bring one or two examples of their artwork for consideration for this exhibit. Please note that DIVA's other galleries in July 2008 will be featuring a special Olympic Trials exhibit, "The Notion of Motion," so we encourage you to propose an exhibit that will fit with the larger exhibit.
